Anyone But Obama

I voted for Barack Obama back in 2008 thinking NO ONE could be as lousy a President as George W. Bush was...I was wrong.

I would like to formally apologize to everyone for voting for that idiot who has lied from day 1. I would rather have Darth Sidious in there. I think he would have a much better idea what he was doing.

Cutting Education Spending is Shooting Ourselves in the Foot

As an independent bookseller to school teachers, I often enter into staff rooms where they are talking about budget cuts. Most of these cuts deal with reducing staff, which will increase class size and decrease attention and opportunities for the kids.

In these tough financial times, the last thing we need to be doing is sacrificing our children's educational needs. By doing this we limit their chances for future opportunities such as college and a decent job. In our competitive global environment with countries such as India, China, and the European Union Countries, we need to be INCREASING funding for education, NOT finding ways to cut back on the number of teachers in our schools. We need to be emphasizing and encouraging teacher training and incentives to keep good teachers. NOT cutting staff and the salaries of those that remain, which force them to try to seek employment outside of their chosen field just to survive.

So what made me decide to start this group? While I was out picking up orders for books today in two of the schools they were talking about how they the districts they were in were cutting funding for computers, and also ways of cutting the teachers salaries by about 2000 dollars A YEAR! Teachers don't make tons of money to begin with.

I look at any cuts in educational funding as shooting ourselves into the proverbial foot. If our kids have less of an education than we did because of these cutbacks, than America will be less competitive in the future and will not be able to maintain it's position in the Global community.

Political Nightmare I had the Other Night

I woke up on November 5th and realized that despite how silly and horrible it would be for all Americans, McCain had won the presidency and then died, leaving Sarah Palin, the laughing stock of the political world in charge.

Then of course there was a call at 3 am and I was freaking that McCain had not chosen someone responsible like Mitt Romney as his running mate. Now this is bizarre, considering that I am quite liberal in my political views.

I don't know, something though about Sarah Palin kind of freaks me out. Not that I oppose powerful women. If Clinton were the nominee on the Democratic side, I would have no problem voting for her.

No offense to Suzanne Somers, but I get the idea that it would be a comedy like Three's Company, with Chrissy as the President. I mean, every interview I have seen shows that she is a very airheaded bigot who forgot the blond hair, or decided to dye it.

Well, I already turned in my ballot, and it was mostly voting for Democrats. I used to be Republican, but George W. Bush goofed up so bad, I could not with good consciousness continue to vote for those idiots.

My Political Philosophy

I admit it! I am a political junkie. Many days I can be found listening to Talk Radio, or reading a book like 'Slander' by Ann Coulter. In the past I was one of the most Conservative leaning people I knew. I would listen to Rush Limbaugh and G. Gordon Liddy faithfully everyday. I believed that Rush was right. I thought every word that came out of his mouth was the gospel truth. However, over time my opinion on politics has changed greatly.

Now I still listen to talk radio and read political books, but they are becoming more and more liberal all the time. What was the reason for this change in my political views and ideology? I would have to say that it was George W. Bush that did me in. When his policies regarding Iraq and his grab for power at the expense of the Constitution after September the 11th started, I saw that what I held dear as an American was being compromised. I voted for John Kerry in the next election, and voted a pretty Democratic ticket in the last 2006 election and was so happy when the Democrats reclaimed the House and the Senate, knowing that this would help to put a check on King Georges grab for political power leading to an empire. We don't need to be an empire. We need to leave Iraq and let them solve their own problems. If they kill each other off in the process, it will be their business. It doesn't need to be our I strongly believe.
